About Us |
|
We live in the small farming community of Nokomis, located just west of Atmore, Ala. We started out with grade sheep to work (train) Australian shepherds and changed to registered Katahdin hair sheep. We are down to 35 registered ewes, keeping the best moms and best hair coats and overall nicer ewes. Ninety-five percent of our ewes are A- or AA-hair coats. We've purchased sheep from Ed Martsolf as well as several from Ohio, Mississippi and Louisiana. Our goal is a worm resistant, A-coat, RR-typed herd. We have mostly QR and RR ewes and try to lamb each December, if not earlier (no later than January). We started the voluntary scrapie flock certification program in 2001 and are members of KHSI and the South Central Katahdin Hair Sheep Association. Joey is a director in the SCKSA. For more information on our herd or available animals please email us. We also raise AKC registered miniature dachshunds. We began raising dachshunds after receiving so many inquiries about puppies. We started out with a pair which we dearly love and, for the last two years, we've been buying breeding stock from some of the best kennels around. Our goal is to home-raise puppies and dogs with sweet temperaments. These dogs are a part of our family. We have chocolates, reds, black & tans, dapples and piebalds. We sell puppies as well as offer stud service, with the females coming to us. We also have Australian shepherds. We have shown and trialed our Aussies. We own Working Trial Champion Manchado Poco Buena and Ricochets Poco Fuego (has two majors toward his championship). We have puppies available occasionally. We still use our Aussies to work the sheep. They save time and energy, with less stress on us and the sheep. Aussies make penning and loading a breeze. We welcome visitors and are willing to help you learn about Katahdin sheep. Call or email any time. " |
